About
Celebreak.net is a blog dedicated to B-Boys, B-Girls and breakdancing culture.
My name is Ebun and I started breaking in 1998. Though I’ve been in the scene for over a decade now, I still consider myself a young student of the dance and am constantly trying to learn more. One thing I’ve consistently noticed over the years is that little is known about breakdancing outside of it’s relatively small community. I started Celebreak as a means to share as I explore the depth of the dance. With this blog, I’ll regularly post about breakdancing’s past (history, pioneering breakers), present (current reach, perception and influence) and future (evolution, growth).

I started breaking in 1998 and formed a crew, Southern Madness, with some high school friends. I was immediately hooked and the crew was obsessed! We used to break everywhere we could: bowling alleys, malls, prom…no floor was spared. It was a great couple of years but we went our separate ways in 2000 after 3 of us graduated.
I moved to Austin for school and started another group, AlgoRhythms, with a group of talented b-boys at the University of Texas. We were fairly active from 2001 to 2004, getting down around Austin and entering B-Boy City competitions. Though the crew is no longer together, I’m very proud that we left a legacy: there has been an active practice session–open to the Austin B-boy Community–in the UT student union open since 2001, when we started it.
I drifted from breaking in 2005 but came back in 2007. I’ve been studying this dance and trying to learn more ever since.
